Bio
John started his athletic career just before high school. The son of a life-long distance runner/marathoner, he had been around endurance sports his whole life. In his first year of track and Cross Country, John was running 5:00 miles, and was ranked in the top 10 among freshmen in the state. By the end of the next season he was running 4:40 and 16:10's. Before the end of HS, he had lettered 8 times and been a top finisher at state 4 times. John ran Division II Track and Cross Country on scholarship.
Five years of running behind him, he decided to try his hand at cycling - first at mountain biking and then road cycling where he eventually found his niche. During this time John found his passion for not only cycling, but for power meters and analyzing power data. In just over four years of cycling he had gone from his first beginner MTB race to a category 1 cyclist.
Coaching
As with all CMCI coaches, my goal is to make you the best athlete possible. I do that through three things:
Goal setting: The athlete and I discuss the short term and long term goals for each season, and what is needed to reach each goal. These can range from race wins, to power output to getting to that ideal race weight.
Scientifically built training: Periodized training based off of heart rate and power utilizing the latest methodologies and techniques. CMCI coaches have access to the top athletes, coaches, team, and scientists in the world and know what it takes to win.
Analysis: Customized training can only be truly custom, if it is adapted and changed regularly for each athlete. We respond best when we are constantly changing our workouts and forcing our bodies to adapt and become fitter. Not everyone can build their whole day around their training schedule, so that is why having a coach that can adapt and change your training in a logical way is a necessity. You want to get the most out of what time you have to train each week.
